KCL Kashrus certification
Under KCL Supervision

Every meal, under the highest hashgachah

Fork n Ladle operates under the full supervision of the KCL — Kehillos Chareidim of Lakewood & Central Jersey — the premier kashrus authority in Lakewood since 1989.

About the KCL

The Vaad Hakashrus Kehillos Chareidim of Lakewood & Central Jersey (KCL) was founded in 1989 by Rabbis Zeev Rothschild and Mayer Rosenbaum to give Lakewood its own high-level hashgachah — one that addresses the kashrus concerns of a growing, discerning community.

Today the KCL is led by Rav Asher Chaim Liberman שליט״א and Rav Yaakov Farkheimer שליט״א, and is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous kashrus organizations in the United States.

KCL Kashrus Criteria

The following requirements apply to every KCL-certified establishment, including Fork n Ladle. These standards are published by the KCL at kclkashrus.org/kashrus-criteria.

For All Establishments

  • The owner must be a trustworthy shomer Torah umitzvos.
  • Whenever possible, ingredients must carry a heimishe hashgacha.
  • A mashgiach visits regularly and without prior notice.
  • All produce is properly checked for insects (bedikas tolaim).
  • All knives are regularly inspected and properly maintained.
  • Bishul Yisroel is required for cooked foods that would not ordinarily be eaten raw.
  • Pas Yisroel is required for bread and baked goods.
  • Chalav Yisroel standards are maintained throughout.
  • No non-kosher food, equipment, or ingredients are permitted on premises.
  • The mashgiach has full authority to halt operations if a kashrus concern arises.

Additional Standards for Caterers

  • All catered events require a mashgiach to be present for the duration of food preparation and service.
  • Caterers must use KCL-approved suppliers for all meat, poultry, and sensitive ingredients.
  • Separate equipment is required for meat and dairy; fleishig and milchig items may not be prepared simultaneously.
  • Disposable serving ware used at events must meet KCL approval.
  • Off-site catering requires a dedicated mashgiach who accompanies the food from kitchen to venue.

Questions about our hashgachah?

You can reach the KCL directly or contact us and we'll be happy to answer any questions.

Our commitment to you

We chose the KCL because it reflects our own values: care, integrity, and zero shortcuts. Every ingredient we source, every dish we prepare, and every meal we deliver is done under active KCL oversight — not just a certificate on the wall.

If you ever have a question about a specific ingredient, a dish's preparation, or our hashgachah status, please reach out. Kashrus questions are always welcome and never a bother.
